More about the profession - UX/UI Designer
>> Hello, Ivelina. Tell us more about your position?
As a UI/UX designer, my job is to create functional design solutions that make the user experience in an online store easy and seamless. We work closely with our eCommerce clients to give their website an individualized look, while adhering to the best design practices in our field.
>> How does your position contribute to Stenik's mission?
In Stenik, my position is the link between the client's desires and the end user's needs. Beyond just creating a beautiful online store, the more important task is to ensure that clients can use it seamlessly and keep coming back, which in turn leads to the growth of our clients' businesses.
>> What motivates you in your work?
My motivation comes from various sources - on one hand, I'm motivated by the fact that I'm doing something I truly enjoy and find fulfilling. I'm also motivated by the team I'm a part of - I continuously develop with their assistance. At Stenik, we collaborate with wonderful brands, and it's amazing to see that my work is appreciated and together we manage to build functional websites that contribute to their business development. This way, we elevate the overall level of eCommerce in Bulgaria.
>> How does your typical workday unfold?
I usually divide my day into two parts - before noon, I perform design QA tests on our websites in development or attend meetings with clients or colleagues. After lunch, I mainly focus on the overall design of our new projects or conduct research that will aid me in the next stage of work. At the end of the day, I prepare a task list for the next day or review the latest developments in the UX and UI field.
>> What kind of team do you work with?
I work in the design team, alongside my team leader, but my work is closely connected with colleagues from the front-end team as well as project managers. Throughout the project cycle, we communicate constantly, and it's great to know you can rely on assistance or feedback from anyone in the company.
>> What knowledge is needed for a UX/UI designer at the beginning of their development in Stenik?
When I started as a designer at Stenik, of course, showcasing good design skills was a priority. Besides that, the experience I had already gained in communicating with colleagues and clients was really helpful, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks. Last but not least, the desire to always seek and learn new things is incredibly beneficial for any new beginning.
>> What skills have you acquired in the company?
In the company, I significantly expanded my knowledge about how an online store functions, which also enhanced my skills in preparing comprehensive designs for our clients and end-users. I'm also happy to work side by side with colleagues who have over 10 years of experience in the field (and within the company), from whom I learn a tremendous amount every day.
>> Advice for anyone starting in this position now.
My advice to future UI/UX designers is to ask questions, research deeply, examine good eCommerce examples, and be dedicated to their work.
