In recent months, the online merchants we work with have reported a significant increase in shipments through the network of machines (lockers). This trend continues to develop, with interest from end customers and online merchants constantly growing. In response to this increased interest, we at Stenik have upgraded our integration module with Speedy (Stenik Speedy). With the new update, our clients can add a new delivery method - "Delivery to Speedy locker" in their store's checkout. This will provide three delivery options with Speedy courier: to an address, to a courier office, and to a locker.
How does delivery to a Speedy locker work in the checkout?
Choosing a delivery method:
In the online store checkout, the user sees a new delivery option – "Delivery to Speedy locker." It is visible alongside other delivery methods such as "Speedy to address" and "Speedy to office."
Selecting a city and locker:
After the customer selects "Delivery to Speedy locker," two additional dropdown fields appear:
- City – the customer must choose their city from a list of predefined values.
- Locker – depending on the selected city, the customer will be able to choose a specific locker from a list of available lockers in that city.
Data automation:
- The addresses of the lockers and their status are synchronized via Speedy's API to provide up-to-date information. This ensures that the customer can only choose valid and available lockers.
Saving addresses for registered users:
- For the convenience of registered users, the addresses of selected lockers can be saved in their profile for future orders.
Managing the delivery cost:
The cost of delivery to a Speedy locker can be managed through table rate configuration or a fixed price, according to the settings in the Stenik Speedy module. This means that the price can be determined automatically based on criteria such as location, weight, number of products, or total order amount.
Generating and canceling waybills:
- Upon completing the order, the module automatically generates a waybill for the address of the selected locker – without the option for review and testing, as this is not possible with the locker delivery option.
- The customer will receive a unique tracking code to track and receive the shipment.
- In the administration, we created a setting to cancel the waybill if the order needs to be canceled or changed.
- The new option supports promotional rules and is influenced by all such rules set in Magento.
Payment
When the user has already selected a locker for delivery, they proceed to the next step in the checkout – payment. The user can make the payment with a credit or debit card or choose the option to receive their package with a "Cash on Delivery" service up to 2000 BGN and pay for it at the locker itself, using a card slot or a contactless terminal.
Shipment notification
At the final stage, the customer receives an SMS with a unique 9-digit PIN code to access the locker, which they use to open the respective box containing their order.
Receiving
The customer pays (if not paid in advance) by entering the received PIN code on the locker's panel, which unlocks the box, and they take their package. If they have made a payment, the locker issues a receipt. The locker requires the customer to close the box.
Advantages of Speedy Lockers (APS)
Speedy Locker is an automated postal station (APS) for receiving and sending packages, which offers numerous advantages for the end-user:
- Convenience and flexibility – The lockers are located in easily accessible places such as shopping chains and malls. Customers can choose the most convenient locations for them to have their packages delivered. Ordered packages are delivered the next business day and can be received within 3 days.
- Collection without queues – Receiving packages is quick, without waiting in line and without the need for physical contact with a courier.
- Security – All transactions are protected, and packages can only be received with a unique code, ensuring delivery security.
- Quick and secure payment – Paying for orders is easy and secure with a debit or credit card.
